Winning is always the ultimate goal of Pigeon Flyers. At Breakaway
Loft, we like to win just as much as the other guy. We try hard
to breed for success. We train our flyers for success and we care
for our pigeons in a way that we think will bring success to our
loft. In short, we do everything we possibly can do to try to
win.
Some seasons have been very successful for us. Our best was probably
the 1999 Young Bird Season when everything just seemed to come
together in a beautiful way. Week after week, the birds arrived
home first and not just one or two, we had a whole flock of birds
fighting to get through the trap each week. It was such an exciting
season for the whole family. We racked up a lot of awards that
season and each year it gives us a goal to strive to beat.
We have always felt like the All American Awards and the North
American Ace Loft Awards are a good measure of a loft's success.
We were very happy to be able to qualify for some of these fine
awards. We hope to qualify for more in the years to come. We treasure
these awards as a small measure of the success our loft has experienced.
During the past three years, we have not applied for any national
awards. We have had good young bird seasons, but not as spectacular
as our 1999 season. We have used these seasons to experiment
with
different
breeding methods and have learned a great deal about which breeding
combinations work well and which ones do not. This fall in the
2004 young
bird season we are again seeing some phenomenal racing results
which might again qualify us for awards. However, because of
some other circumstances, we will probably not be able to apply
for them. See the 2004 young bird results
page for an explanation.
