A bucket, some square nosed shovels and a sweep broom complete Craig's ensemble of tools. When Craig cleans the nest boxes and roosts, he holds the bucket in one hand underneath the nest box and the hoe in the other hand. Then he can scoop and scrape the manure right into the bucket. This eliminates the step of having to sweep it up off the floor afterwards.

Most of what Craig scrapes off the floors falls through the expanded metal floors into the trays below. The rest he sweeps into a pile, then uses the shovel to scoop it up and into the bucket. The bucket then gets carried and dumped on the garden. A few minutes spent every day on the cleaning chores keeps the lofts neat and tidy.Cleaning never becomes a problem because a daily routine keeps it under control.
