Here is another view from the west end. In this view you can see the trellis that is built next to the loft. There is a space between the loft and the trellis where a channel runs for the pigeons to enter into the back aviary. Craig originally built this about six or seven years ago with redwood lattice. Last year, he replaced it with this vinyl lattice because the wood from the old lattice was all falling apart. The plants are new, so they haven't yet grown to cover the lattice.

Craig built this trellis and planted the trumpet vines to help shade the west side of the loft from the hot summer heat. We think it makes a difference when the weather is hot and it also looks nice when the flowers are all in bloom. The hummingbirds like to visit here.
