This is a closer view that shows the construction details of the crate. A dado in each side holds the end board in place. The wood is lighter weight and smaller pieces are used than on his old crate design. He also eliminated the outside wood trim on the crates to make them lighter weight. On his old crates the trim covered the edges of the canvas cloth. One big disadvantage of using the canvas cloth was that it stained easily if the crates ever got wet. Then they didn't look as nice. These new crates have stayed nice looking even with lots of use.
