Craig checks on an injured pigeon regularly and if it is hurt badly, he may have to help it get a drink and eat. Sometimes he has to feed the pigeon with a syringe. To do this, he creates a mash out of the crumbs from the turkey grower pellets.

He built a box that has a mesh bottom. He pours some feed into the box, then shakes it around till all the fine particles fall through the mesh into the collecting box underneath. When he has gathered enough, he mixes this powdered feed with water then fills the syringe with it.

On the end of the syringe, he puts a piece of clear tubing about eight inches long. He opens the pigeons mouth and inserts the tubing down its throat. He then empties the contents of the syringe into the pigeon's craw. He may have to feed a pigeon several times till it recovers, but he has saved a lot of excellent pigeons over the years by sewing up their injuries and nursing them back to health. Some of these have even ended up in his breeding loft producing winners.
